I have problems with camera bags on my shoulders so I switched to a bulky Think Tank belt system with a harness. So far (one month) it seems the best option although I do have to watch that I don't bump the pouches into people and objects. What did you finally settle down with? Or are you struggling with the less than ideal?

I don't lug. At the most, I bring two DSLRs shooting. I'll have a tele on my right shoulder and a W/A on my left.

I have a messenger bag for light travel, a medium side bag for more stuff, and a small back pack for hiking.
I carry the bags (one at at time) cross-shoulder, and if in tight quarters I simply swing the bag in front of me. Works very well for airplanes and other places.

I think it depends a lot on what you’re carrying. Two larger bodies or two micro 4/3s are well suited to harness systems. If I carry two cameras (rarely, btw), one is almost always a compact along with a DSLR. That’s a perfect combination for a cross body sling or small messenger bag.

I simply carry my camera in its case. The photo was taken by a friend on one of our photo outings.

Main bag right now is a Messenger bag from LL Bean, I also have a couple of day packs I use if the trip warrants one, Lately I've been trying to do with one lens and a spare battery+sd card, no bag.

I have a couple of bags that I carry. If I am on a good path and going a little ways. I put my bag and tripod in a folding wagon I purchased from Sams Club for about $59.00.

Have done that a lot on short trips, the bag stays in the car, IF I take it (the bag that is).

I have a Lowpro Sling strap pack, which I have most everything packed. Just recently bought a Canvas messenger Bag in which I carry my DSLR with selected lens attached, plus 2 additional Lens, plus 3 extra batteries, Memory card case, and other small accessories. Mainly for "Day Trips".
I also have a "Hand Strap" on my Camera, just in case !!

If I'm on a car trip I take an old style camera bag I bought in the seventies. If I'm walking or on a bicycle I use a sling bag and just take one camera and two lenses.

I have three lenses {UWA, "normal", and telephoto}. I get bag that will hold them, the body, and batteries at minimum. Right now I use a Think-Tank "Retrospective 7" bag for them.

Bob, Looks like my old 4 x 5 Graphic Case? Very functional!
