Last July I traveled to Grand Junction to photograph an air show. Afterwards I headed west from Grand Junction to shoot a photo I had been thinking about for several years but never had a chance to shoot it. This curve is just west of the siding (and town) of Cisco. There was a line relocation years ago to reduce the curvature but it still looked pretty good to me. From here the track curves north to cross under I-70. #5 was running about 2 1/2 hours late but I was fortunate to still have sunlight on the curve for the shots...
Photos #1 & 2 are Amtrak coming and going away running at track speed, 70 mph

Great shots, both. One thing I would do is level the horizon, especially in shot #2.
Nice shots of a semi-rare event for that region. Thanks for sharing

At that point the line is climbing a long hill out of Cisco and going to cross a ridge to the west. The camera was level, because of the curve and climb it appears tilted….
