First of all the unusual:

It took my wife and myself a couple of minutes to work out exactly what we were looking at when I first saw what I thought was a bird with something attached to its wings. It is actually the cocoon of the Bag-shelter Moth caterpillar which has been attached to a small tree branch which just happened to have a knobby part that looked like the head of a pigeon complete with an eye and a beak. Bag-shelter Moth caterpillars are often referred to as processionary caterpillars because they form long chains as they follow each other head to tail. They are also often referred to as "Itchy Grubs" because their bodies are covered with long hairs which for most people will result in intense itchy dermatitis or severe allergies if touched.
