Looking to upgrade from a P600 to P800 I noticed that Epson looks to be discontinuing these printers. Does anyone know if they are replacing these with a new model?

Looks like they are on sale with rebates.

Note the "discontinuedFlag false" phrase in the URL.

These printers are long in the tooth. I'm pretty sure Epson will replace them at some point.

Also available are the SureColor 24" P7000 and 44" P9000 series. These are still the choice of many museums, high end studios, and some photo labs making large inkjet ("giclee") prints.

I have noticed that the only Epson offerings are multipurpose printers. I am babying my Workforce 40. It just prints from computer files. I also notice the multi-function models cost about the same as prior single-function models. So do the multi’s perform at one-third the quality. Epson doesn't give away stuff, they gotta get the revenue.

Those are relative old models, the Epson P 5000 is a somewhat newer model, but i think they are all getting updates at some point in time!

If you want one, you can still get one.

If you look at their website, you should find a whole page of Photo Printers for home use.

They have a similar page for photo printers for work environments. None are multipurpose (separate web pages for those). Of course, they can be used for documents, not just image files, but they do not scan or FAX.

This is helpful information, thanks for telling. I was referring to the offerings in stores (Best Buy & Micro Center).

Looks to me like both the P600 and the P800 are both current. Both are good printers. I own a P800 and like it quite a bit. The sale is kind of usual. Best of luck.

Go big on the printer if possible, because ink is MUCH less costly per ounce in the 800 than in the 600 or 400.

No, the only one (that I can find, discontinued in the P600 and P800 series) is the P800 Design Edition; also, many of the other Design Edition printers have been discontinued. All of the others are still available.

I don't recall if it was you or somebody else gave me that advice a number of years back, but it was good advice. Of course the outlay to replace the cartridges is WOW, but they last forever.
