Large natural zoo habitats are not only good for the animals, but also for photographers. For wolves and other cold-climate animals, I prefer the winter months, especially with snow. The snow and the flat-light of a featureless cloudy sky add to the desolation and wild look of nature.
All photos were taken at the Detroit Zoo over the past three years. The wolves were born in captivity.
