This is a continuation of a previous post: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-628541-1.html

Someone suggested buying new lenses that I would want for myself, that gave me this inspiration.
I am going to buy a lens a month

Canon 11-24 f4 (Have wanted this for a while anyway)
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1119028-REG/canon_9520b002_ef_11_24mm_f_4l_usm.html

Canon 24-105 f4
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1274709-REG/canon_ef_24_105mm_f_4l_is.html

Canon 100-400 f4.5-5.6
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1092632-REG/canon_9524b002_ef_100_400mm_f_4_5_5_6l_is.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Get this bag
https://www.thinktankphoto.com/collections/airport-series/products/airport-navigator

with the roller flair in green
https://www.thinktankphoto.com/collections/airport-series/products/roller-flair

Pack that bag full with her battery charger, a couple of extra batteries, instruction manual, cleaning kit, flash, three lenses, etc

Wrap it all up nice and give it to her as a gift. Tell her I am excited she is enjoying photography, and this is every lens she will ever need. She gets the new and I get the old ones back, and suggest that maybe we can share once in a while.

Problem solved.

The older 24-105 may seem like a value, but the v II is sharper and better designed, including a lock to prevent the lens from flopping open during travel. The repair cost to fix the internal ribbon prone to break justifies no longer getting involved with the original 'v I' version.

The older 100-400L is still a wonderful lens. But again, the v II is substantially improved in sharpness and IS capability.

If the older models were selected based on cost, give KEH.com a look and check their options for EX-rated used models. This rating tends to be as good as new, just without the box.

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware those were older models

I didn't launch the links. Even though the URL text doesn't 'name' the current vII versions, the links do appear resolve to the vII models now that I've followed them.

Clever solution, if she will give back your (now her) items.

Yeah, you really think so, huh?

You realize that Murphy added "Men can NEVER understand women completely! (So ask her first.)" to his list of laws, in spot #2 right after "Whatever can go wrong, will."
And Mrs Murphy was standing right behind him holding his newest golf club and tapping her foot while he did it.
