Not too long ago I posted some boudoir pictures of a 4'10" model which were elongated with the use of a wide angle lens. Some said she didn't look that short, thank-you because that was the aim. I had gotten (somewhere?) a asian fish basket and put her in it. Not a lot of room so size let me finally use it. I thought they weren't too bad so here are a couple of them.

I, for one, have a negative feel for such container shots. It may be a sense of claustrophobia or such. The technique was done well, though.

Is 4'10" the maximum full height of the model? More a curiosity query.

Side note: One of my favorite radio announcers is the 4'11" Terry Gross.

Nothing in the shot communicates her small stature. You know she's small and say so but an item in the shot that provided a reference to scale would be something to consider.

Should the height make any significant addition to the shot? IMO, it is immaterial.

There are some indications as to her actual height, though. However, there are larger baskets manufactured.

The photo stands on its own merit, both ways.

I will relate a funny episode from many years ago where stature played a significant role. Sorry about the length of the narrative, but it was very amusing to see.

There was a stage show being presented as part of The Sportsman's Show. Various entertainers had come up on stage over about 45 minutes, and then it was time for the ventriloquist to do his act. He wheeled forward a set of 4 kitchen-like bottom cabinets on wheels that had been sitting at the back of the stage for the entire time.

Standing behind the cabinets, her leaned over, opened a door and unfolded a large puppet from Sesame Street. He inserted his hand into the back of the puppet to move the head and mouth as he "talked" with the puppet. After a few minutes he opened a second door, unfolded another large puppet, and now carried on a 3-way conversation using both of his hands to manipulate the 2 puppets. After a few more minutes he opened up the outer 2 cabinets and unfolded yet another 2 large puppets. He now carried on a 5-way conversation as he jumped back and forth to manipulate the 4 puppets heads and mouths.

During one of the moves the hand of the gorilla puppet at the one end of the cabinets fell off. The ventriloquist excused the slight problem, came around to the front, and re-inserted the hand into the forearm of the gorilla puppet, and then carried on with the show. The hand falling off the "puppet" was part of the set up for the big surprise.

Now, being a Sesame Street theme, a lot of little kids were gathered at the front of the stage enjoying the show. You should have seen them jump back when the gorilla suddenly started doing hand springs across the stage toward the kids. Yes, the gorilla was actually a short person in costume. But for me the surprising thing was that this guy had been folded over at the waist inside this cabinet for almost an hour!!! It was a great ending to the stage show.

And part of it was our expectation that an actor should be taller! Funny, funny story--poor kids!
