In order to get warranty service you need the bill-of-sale from an authorized Nikon dealer. The warranty is NOT transferable and it is from the date-of-original sale. Buyer Be Aware and check new and used prices. My apologies to the OP, but there are way to many mis-statements.

Buyer Be Aware
I will remove the statement of getting 5 year when registered.
I have no way of knowing for sure, as I never needed work on the D7200.
The only reason I thought it could be registered is, because I have done it before with a camera
The same D7200 that took the pictures in the original post, was purchased locally
from an individual, and had not been registered.
As you can see from images below the original purchaser got it in July 2015 from Best Buy.
I do not recall exactly when I purchased it, just recall it was football season that year.
Images below also show it is registered under my account with Nikon.
So am I trying to scam someone ... look at my feedback and decide for yourself.

Being able to register a lens is much different than obtaining a warranty. I have several lenses that I purchased refurbished ant/or used that are registered with Nikon under my account. These lenses are NOT under warranty, regardless of age. As USA models, Nikon will repair them, at my expense.
Good product. I have one.
