EOS R Battery Life

Quite a few members have asked about battery life with the EOS R and RP. Can't tell you anything about the RP but my R has always given me good results. Until now I didn't have any actual numbers though, but, I have shot 2 basketball games in the last 3 days and this time I actually paid attention.
At the first game I shot just over 500 pictures. I used Servo auto-focus and kept it active a lot as I followed the action. The 2 lenses I used, an RF 50mm f/1.2 L and a RF 85mm f/1.2 L both have large elements and keeping them moving no doubt takes a toll on the battery. The game was about 2 hr long. As is normal with the R the LCD was on just about the whole time, except when my eye was to the viewfinder. I started with a fully charged Canon LP-E6N battery and when I finished it was at 52%.
Today's game was about the same except that I shot slightly fewer photos. About 495, and instead of reviewing during the halftime I was talking to my wife and had the camera off. Battery was at 57% at the end.
I also keep the display brightness at Max since that makes it easier it see in sunlight.
From my point of view that is not bad battery life although if I had taken the same number of shots over a longer period no doubt the LCD would draw the battery down much further if it was active for all that time.

I have never had issues with battery life with my EOS R. I have no numbers as you do, but I have shot all day long and never changed batteries. I always keep a second one, but have seldom needed it.

When I bought my R I got two aftermarket battery along with it. When I received it, I discovered that the batteries I already had for my 7d Mark 1 and 2 were the same thing, practically...a few Milliamps lower. Form factor was identical and voltage was identical. So, nearly perfect. Same charger for all. I’ve used them all in the R and rarely have to change batteries, although I carry a couple of extras. Battery life is great. Now, my Sony a6000, by comparison, really eats its small batteries. I always carry two extras and usually use them.

I have had excellent results with the batteries for my EOS R. When I bought my camera I bought 2 extra batteries. I have never had to use the third one while shooting. It does come in handy when both batteries need to be recharged. I find the battery for the EOS R to be very dependable and last a long time. I usually shoot 400 to 500 photos on a shoot.

I’ve had similar good results with my R. I purchased a second Canon battery, both of which I can charge directly in the camera with my Gnarbox charger. It makes for a compact travel gear set. I’m very happy with the batteries performance.
