Playing with the "grunge" effect

Hi, a new member here, Connie. I like to play with my images in a number of ways. Right now, playing with the "grunge" effect on a number of images. I have posted here the original image, except that I took the image three times, one stop apart, and then turned it into an HDR image using LR. I processed the image in LR, then opened it in PS and added layers, including a background (one or more) and used masking. I may have also processed it a bit more in PS with a curve and additionally in LR as well once saved there. I used ON1 to add frames.

Yep some images just call out for a down and dirty grunge treatment Connie. You would likely be hard pressed to "prettify" this subject.

The effects punctuate and flavor the so-what old-metal photos and turning them into a quite strong spectacular. Congratulations and thanks for an old car buff

I think you have just a bit too much color for grunge but you do have the grunge look down pat. Great job with both the pictures and the framing.

Can grunge be in color? Or, is it mostly devoid of color and/or BW?

The stuff I've seen is done with darker colors. Not void of color just deeper earthy colors.
This is just my impression of grunge. I would image there are other interpretations.

Grunge is what YOU want it to be. You did a great job!

I like what you did with PP, especially the last one.
It looks more like an older, slightly faded photo. The colors in the next to last one were just a little to strong I think, for the effect you were trying to achieve.

will
