I strayed off course a bit but did consider what fellow UHH members had to say. I removed the candles from the foreground. I insisted on using a real rose. I tried to lay it down on the table but it looked crunched and I din't like the way I had to use my light to enhance the rose. So out went the wine glass and in came the pitcher.
How does it look on your monitors? Should I light some more?

this is beautiful, Jim. I like the simplicity of this one, the candles are glowing but not the subject. and the light on the pitcher is beautiful.
I know how hard still-life images are, one wants to include too much and I never am satisfied.

The rose is crisp and nicely defined, as is the pitcher. The baby's breath has some in focus and some out, but it shows up nicely against the dark background. I do like the placement of the candles in this one.

Beautiful image.
It made me go find the original version/attempt. And it made me think about your planning and ultimate execution of the shot. Very well done!

I downloaded the image and tried to find something I could say needs improvement. Well I-couldn’t find anything. Nicely done.

Took me a while going back and forth over the brightness. Settled by making this one just a tad brighter and just ordered a print from
Fracture. Will be entering in local show.
