Giant Sea Bass

We've been monitoring Hermosa Beach Artificial Reef and the resident Stereolepis gigas, Giant Sea Bass or California Wreckfish for the past five years in conjunction with a study at UC Santa Barbara. We've identified more than a hundred individuals at the site just since August.

They allow us to get our dome ports within a couple inches, which is perfect for my 15mm fisheye lens. Giant Sea Bass at other locations are not as friendly. Perhaps this group has become accustomed to out intrusions.
