This month (December 2019 While traveling through Quartzsite, Arizona we stopped to get gasoline, and to our amazement this RV pulled in too.
Sorry these are cell phone shots, but we couldn’t pass up the chance to talk with the owner and take some photos.
He said he built this camper himself, finished it in 1981. It’s an airplane fuselage mounted on a truck chassis.
Like all Airstream Campers, it’s built to last.

What a great handyman. He sure has found an ideal way to travel around in a home built.

Wow! I saw a bit on TV about homemade RV. One guy used a modern plane fuselage as a camper, but it also served as a boat.

This is a smaller version -

And a larger, non-driving version -

IT would scare me coming down the road towards me! Did he invite you inside? It would be interesting to see what he did inside...

I was looking up a jumbo jet house that I knew of and found there are a lot more, at least 32. Several various sizes and designs.

The owner/gentleman was kind, but, as always so many people were hounding him with questions. We didn’t ask any ourselves, just listened to the answers he gave other people.
No one went inside.

Wow! That's quite an RV. I would hesitate to ride in it, though, due to its apparent high center of gravity.
