One of the shutter blades on my D750 will not retract (on right side). Any suggestions on where I should send it? In the past, I sent it to Nikon since it was under warranty. This one is on my dime.

If there is a camera repair facility in your area I would call and see if they can replace the shutter. If not, send it to Nikon.
Do an online estimate at Nikonusa.com and see what they would charge.

Blade? Shutter
Curtain. I'd say Nikon unless you have a trusted favorite local repair shop. The iris of the lens has blades or a leaf shutter has blades. Focal plane shutters have curtains (horizontal or vertical).

The D750 like most modern cameras has bladed shutter curtain.

Classic case of reply from an "Online Expert".
Useless, off-topic, incorrect info. Just ignore it.
BTW, since Nikon appears to be disabling third
party repair shops, Nikon is your sole source.

Thanks for the idea of getting an online estimate.
The shutter mechanism needs replacement. Expect around $300-$350 from Nikon. They will clean the sensor, replace the rubber if needed and will make any necessary adjustments.
There is no way to get a camera like the D750 in good condition in the used market for that price.

New shutter's are not bad considering you get an additional 150,000 exposure +. Call Nikon in Melville at 1-800-645-6687.
The last time I checked, I believe it was in the $300.00 to $400.00 range. So, each exposure will cost you exactly $.002 each.
A friend paid $250 a few years ago to have his shutter replaced on a Sony a55 SLT camera. It was known to have shutter issues two years after it was released. Some never reached 50,000 shutter clicks. I knew someone who had a recalled D750, because of shutter issues. He sent it to the Los Angeles facility. And got it back quickly. They replaced the shutter, and cleaned the camera well. Once you get a shutter replacement on a Nikon camera, the shutter count does not go back to zero. As many expect it to. Shutter replacement costs can range from $350-$450. Inflation kills. Good luck.

I checked Nikon's online cost estimator and a shutter replacement wasn't listed. I am going to call Nikon on Monday and verify a repair cost of $350-$450. It's far cheaper than buying a refurbished unit and I still have use for this camera even though the weight becomes more burdensome each year.

Just like people, cameras seem
to gain weight as they age ......
