I have been a Nikon user since the 1970's....when I got a F2...then a F100.....then a D100....then D7000.....then a D750.....and I have been thinking about getting a D850.....but not sure....I would like a little help deciding.....I have read lots and watched a lot of You Tube videos on the 850 so I do know something about it....Can anyone tell me the main differences in the D750 and D850...Can you tell me about the type of media card the D850 uses....I know it is different....and do you have to use the new type card or can you use the same type that you use in in the D750....Any and all information you can give will help me with my decision on buying the D850.

IMO, most SERIOUS photogs with Nikon equipment will want/need to be looking at the mirrorless Z series - I would wait for the next iteration of it tho. - and NO, I am not a Nikon person and do not own any Nikons ! - But the new lenses with the new mount are blowing all others away ! This is the FUTURE.

Biggest question before you spend a lot of money... What will the new camera do for you that the old one won't?

Or what does your old camera not do that you feel that you need a new camera ?

It appears you are looking for validation to justify spending a large sum of money for something you may not need. All specs are online and most of the videos you profess to have watched should contain the answers to your questions. If you can afford it then buy it, I am sure you will not be disappointed with the camera as it is great in low light and can deliver great images if the operator knows composition. If it is going to drain your financial resources then don't.

If the D750 is inhibiting your ability to capture excellent images then you need to get a different camera body. If your skill level has not surpassed the technology of the camera, then its just GAS.

We don't need mathematics or decision trees to see the beauty a new camera will bring.

The 850 is awesome

Be aware, file size is huge, so likely need more storage

I could not be more in agreement. Update if the camera breaks and repairs are more expensive than the actual value of the camera or if the camera is not doing the job or lacks features needed in your photography. I have used one and the D750 is a great camera.
Update only when it is needed or give away your money, it is your decision.

If it floats your boat, and it's what you want, go for it - Parody on JG Wentworth commercial - "It's your money, spend it now" !!! Will it make you a better photographer...only you will know that result...

The D850 takes an SD card and the second slot is the proprietary card which are not cheap.

I bought 2 D850’s when they first came out. Had D810 and D4 prior. I love the quality and as someone suggested, files are very large so consider your storage needs too. I just bought a 5gb drive for cheap at costco.

However, if no urgency, you may want to consider mirrorless but as someone suggested, wait for next generation. I suspect at some point when im not doing as much photography i will switch to a mirrorless Z model, next gen.
