My beloved Dayton Flyers are now ranked as high as #7.

They are currently 7-1, and their only loss was to#2 Kansas in OT.

Meanwhile my also beloved Kentucky Wildcats are ranked as high as #8 with their only loss being to the hated Evansville Purple Aces.

I'm familiar with the Dayton Basketball Program. The previous coach, Harvey Miller, is the brother of Sean Miller, who coaches at Arizona. Harvey Miller, now coaches the Indiana Hoosiers. Dayton advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 in the past several years? For a Mid-Major Conference, they are good.

I'm not a big college sports fan so I must ask. Your point?
If it's why the low ranking for teams with many wins and few losses, it's simply the math they use in the ranking system.
A close friend and fellow retired computer programmer is also an amateur sports statistician. I've seen some of the logarithms he's whipped up to rank sports teams and there are numerous variables taken into consideration, some of which seem ridiculous to me. But then I'm not the sports stats guy, he is.

Well, you're close. Archie Miller coaches Indiana and did formerly coach Dayton. And he is Sean's brother, not son.

Well the Flyers currently stand at 15-2 and ranked either #6 or #13 depending on which poll is used.

Tonight they are in Missouri to play the hated Saint Louis Billikens.

Meanwhile the UK Wildcats have fallen on a bit of hard times.
