Hello! I’ve spent the last three years overcoming cancer. That said, my greatest desire is to learn how to capture Time. I’m hoping to learn what affordable camera is is the best to get and how to use it. The go pro camera’s abilities I’ve read about offer a lot of what I’m looking for in a camera. I’d greatly appreciate any suggestions on what type of camera to get and how to us it. 😊
I too am a survivor, Colon cancer 2011. Nikon makes super good equipment and you can get some good deals. You may also consider used equipment. Whatever you do, have fun!

If there are any conditions we need to know about your situation, knowing about them will help in making suggestions. The Go-pro has its advantages, as it does have its limitations.
My blessing for you. B&H photo, Adorama have a good selection of used gear with rating and some warranty. I hear B &H have excellent customer service.
Do you want a bridge camera, DSLR, Video...... weight, size......
Creative live is a homepage where you can find all kind of classes, just check it out.
My favorite stores are B&H for new photo equipment, and Roberts Camera for used. Congratulations on regaining your health!
Congratulations on your big win ....enjoy every day to the fullest. If there is a camera store near you go in and try the different brands and pick the one that feels best for you. I shoot with Canon since 70’s and they do a good job, but the other brands are good too. Good luck to you.

There is not much point in buying a camera that is way beyond your ability to use it. If you are just starting out in photography, a newer smart phone is a great place to start. They do a wonderful job of capturing life's moments. Even my wife's several years old iPhone 6S assembles her shots and video clips into a nice little multimedia show on its own. Use the phone/camera to learn how to compose a shot and to identify interesting subjects. Wait until you have a good understanding of these before you get bogged down in the complexities of lenses, manual settings etc.
Welcome to UHH... and congratulations on being a survivor. All the best to you.
Welcome to the Hog, enjoy.
Yes, that's what cameras are all about...capturing a slice of time. What's the best camera to use? Just about any camera you can afford.
Welcome to the forum.
