So, I have a growing collection of reference photos that I plan to use, some day, for compositing images, an example of which is the subject of this post. This composite photo contains 5 unrelated images, taken at different times and places, which, obviously, I have made into one image that really only exists in my mind. I've been told that I don't have enough to do. But I really enjoy photography, and I'm working on learning Photoshop (does anyone ever get to the point where they 'know' Photoshop?. Well, anyway, here it is, after a bunch of hours working o it. Some things I like, others I don't. If you've gotten this far, and you have any comments (other than I need more Photoshop practice) please let me know.

I also posted this in the critique section, but I think those folks are shy and don't want to say anything unkind. Over the years I've grown skin that's about 2 feet thick, so please be honest. We'll still be friends no matter what you say.

I think you did a fine job. Not sure where each of the 5 images start and finish and that to me make a good composition. Your blending of layers is working. Your colors work well with one another. Like it.đź‘Ť

The only part in question to me is the dark brown in the immediate foreground. It breaks the path and seams unrealistic for me.

A very well done composite. I can only find three of them. If it were my photo, and it's not, I would remove the person, simply because I don't like people in my landscapes. You definitely the perspective issues down pat. If you ever learn all about PS they will publish an update to keep you off balance.

If you really want comments, constructive and otherwise, post this to either or both, "For Your Consideration" and/or "Post Processing and Digital Images". We have some of the best manipulators of images willing to share their expertise and none of us are reluctant to share our criticisms. I look forward to seeing a lot more of your images.

Very good but on the double download there are straight lines on the layer under the dark stretch of cliff you have put in. The sand at the top looks as though it comes to an abrupt stop, if it goes into a slope on the other side it needs to be softened which ever the case may be. The man looks as though he is floating and needs a shadow to hold him down and maybe tilted slightly to the left to see if he looks better foot wise on the sand.. It looks very good till you do the double download and then things show up. I learnt to do composites on my own by trial and error so keep going and I am sure you will get there Friend.

I really like the person in the photo. It adds to the story. I’m assuming that some of the darker shadows are cloud shadows since there aren’t any obvious big things creating the shadow. I would definitely “ground” the guy a bit more by adding shadows on the ground that would normally be created by him in that light. Otherwise we’ll done!

The person is the only aspect that jumps out as being added in to the image at first glance; as stated above a shadow would help to ground him into the image. Over all well done.
