I followed the normal process for doing a pano like many times before but for some reason it came out strange. What have I done wrong?

Type this in Youtube "How to Make Better Panos in Photoshop CC" and it will show you the easiest way to make a pano. It is by Scott Kelby. The first time I tried it I put 15 photos together and from start to finish took less than two minutes. It is VERY simple and has worked for me every time.

Sometimes selecting the images can be strange, it's easy to unclick one and not realize it.

To actually take a pano I put the camera in aperture priority mode and get my settings including focus. Next I change to manual mode and repeats the settings in manual mode. Turn off auto focus, turn the camera to portrait orientation and start taking pictures left to right with about a third overlap to each picture. Then go to the Youtube video I mentioned above and do what it says and you should have a great pano. Once you get your settings make sure EVERYTHING including focus is in manual mode. You do not want anything to change from one picture to the next, it must all stay the same during all of your shots.

I agree - your question isn't specific - show us what happened.

Not to worry. I take a lot of strange photos myself.

Only jpg, tif and png will show a thumbnail. Others, such as psd, will generate a download link only. But a psd is probably too large as file size limit is about 22 mb. Here's how to attach a pic:

Make sure you can see the image in preview prior to clicking "send."

I have tried JPEG without success. Will try again with smaller file. Looks like it was file size that was the problem. In the past all panos were in one long strip. I don't know why this is happening.

If you follow the easy directions on the video there is a step that corrects this. Look at and follow the video. It is very simple and quick

Thanks. This "new" way of doing raw pano is great. Worked first time. I am still confused why the "old" system did not work for this anymore, but who cares? Go with what works.

file size shouldn't matter - I've done 7-8 image panoramas w no problem

(doesn't look like you were using 'reposition', the best place to start)- when you get a result like this it means ps couldn't match all your images - the btm image may have been skipped because it was tilted - check the horizon in each image, and correct if necessary; another possibility may be the lighting differences were too extreme

Try using photos from a pano you'd already successfully made before the new version of PS came out, and re-processing them with PS 2020. If successful, I'd say it indicates that the set that failed weren't level enough.

I do tons of panos. One thing that works for me is to use the camera in portrait orientation, and generally focal lengths of 45mm or longer. This avoids that distortion at the left side of your pano, where the trees were obviously much closer than the rest of the scene.

Also shoot this with manual exposure - auto exposure modes may cause irregularities in brightness from one panel to the next. You should have a consistent exposure whenever possible.

If you find that Lightroom/Photoshop and other similar programs fall short of your expectations, try PanoTools GUI. It is an industrial strength stitching program with lots of control.

Here are some panos that illustrate what I am suggesting:
