Sam

The initial shot was of Sam sitting in a recliner chair in our darkened living room - just for fun I cropped it to create a portrait. His face is illumined on the left by a tv and a window candle, creating a soft Rembrandt lighting effect. I'm not a professional by any stretch of the imagination but I rather like this.

Great shot Sue. Pro or not this is a fine portrait. The mixed light does make it hard to get a good white balance, but this look is very warm. It is apparent to me that the subject and you have a rapport. 😊

Nice light in his eyes.

White balance, saturation, and contrast can be adjusted in post processing.

Actually, the white balance was pretty accurate as the light source was from an electric candle which had a yellowish glow and was only a foot or so to the left of the image. I toned it down a bit in PP but left the overall effect which resulted in richer colors and a look that has a Renaissance-like feel.

I like what you did with your tweaking even though it isn't what I was going for. Thank you!

I much prefer the warmth of the first one. Really great Sue!

Good shootin' neighbor. All it needs is a frame and wall space.

I'd rather come to you for a portrait than some so called pros.
