Sunrise Over the Gulf of Mexico

So I got out to the beach way to early and had to hike a couple miles to get past the condos to the edge of Gulf Shores National Seashores. As I was looking for some spots to get the sun coming up over the horizon, I decided to grab a few bracketed shots while some color was starting to edge into the sky.

It was in the 40's, and nice to be alone on the beach. I was expecting a little more scattered cloud cover from the weather forecast, but it just didn't happen on this cold Sunday AM.

Nicely done. For my personal taste, I would’ve liked processing on the output image to lighten the foreground a little to lighten the beach, but not too much as to take over the overall effect, a delicate balance.

Nicely done, no over-cooking involved, natural looking.

I totally get it, and for some, it works great for them and has a nice effect. I did have the foreground up a little more, but in the end I decided to go with the softer, darker scene to keep it closer to the natural effect.

I will re-visit the shot in post after I have some time to "forget" how it looked in person and see if your suggestions will catch my eye.

Thanks!

Thanks! I think I'm being very conservative as to not "over cook" the image.

Bracketing this shot was more to preserve the sky than anything else.
