I was able to grab this shot from a train as we passed by - the trees are rather soft b/c of our speed but I think it lends a bit of a painted effect to the image.

You got lucky. The composition couldn't have been much better even if you did get the chance to plan it.

Not only the trees. But you are right --- the soft focus seems to echo effects of an old memory. I like it Sue.

Thank you! It was our second trip past the castle (I first saw it on the way up to Oban) and I was poised to get the shot - only had a couple of seconds to do it! It's one of my favorites even with the softness.

It does have the look of a work in oils, and the composition looks like one that was carefully thought out, as a painter would have done.

Glad you like it but I have to laugh at the "carefully thought out" part - I had about 2 seconds to grab this! Serendipity at its finest!
