There was something gruesome going on in my window sill last night. A young Steatoda triangulosa enjoying a snack. I checked again tonight and she was still there munching away. Canon 100mm macro

Well noticed and shot. Where spiders are concerned it is a 'Dog eat dog' situation.

Thanks! At first I didn't know what was going on. Just looking with my eye I thought maybe someone was molting. Then I looked through my lens!

If not dog eat dog, it's spider eat spider.
Nice shot, could ID the one being eaten by eye arrangement.

👍 hard to tell from this angle, but the larger spider might be a crab spider who took a wrong step.
The Steatoda might be feeding from one of the larger spiders' feet. Spiders will do that (suck down a meal from a leg).

Yes, Mark, I thought it looked like a crab spider also.

Thanks -- it may have been hanging out like that for 24 hours -- when I went back the next night they were still there. Perhaps protecting its catch?

Thank you Sippy! It's nice to have a place to share -- my husband just rolls his eyes! What will he think when I buy a couple jumping spiders?
