As far as in-body-stabilization goes, that is a yes, as Canon has already veryfied that a long time ago. 100 mp? I don't think so, but 83 is very likely the amount!
At that price it's academic, at least for me.

Having had in-body stabilization for some years with my Sony A bodies (it has worked well, and made old lenses act like new), that is definitely a great move. 100MP images, better have sharp lenses, and you'll need that IBIS stabilization. Yes, I'd like one.... when the $$ comes down to my level......

Thank you speters for the confirmation! I rented an Olympus camera and then I was going to rent a Sony.
I thought with the 2020 Olympics camera manufacturers would have their latest and greatest out by then.
I know the weight savings will not be significant using my current lenses from Canon on a Canon mirrorless including the adapter, but with both the camera and lens stabilization functions, then perhaps I can keep my gear and not have to carry the tripod and remote given my hands are starting to shake when holding my 5DM4 and one of the lens. Have to start saving!!
The IBIS in Olympus cameras is great. Tony Northrup has commented on high MP cameras. Factors like building vibration and tripod vibrations become more important.
I agree that 100 Mp are too many. I for sure do not need that. I would not be comfortable using that camera but that is me.
Other cameras have IBIS and Olympus comes to mind with their excellent bodies. Believe me, 20 Mp are a lot of pixels for a majority of applications.

Thank you camerapapi for your comments.
I like the Olympus I'm renting right now. I'm going to take it out on our first snowy day (today) of the year. I know the cameras meant for sports but I'd like the way it feels and I like that it can straightened the parallax in buildings.
I can see selling my Canon gear and all my lenses (all but one are L's), but when I think of all the batteries, all the filters, all the glass protectors that I have, I really feel like I'm going to be leaving a lot of money on the table! I just don't know where to sell that stuff.
I have time before Canon issues their new camera with in-body stabilization. I'll take the time to rent a Sony (A7R3) but when I work the numbers for a Sony body and their 24-105 lens I think it only came out only a half a pound less than my current system, which really doesn't seem like enough to make a move. I think anyway. I'm not near my computer with the spreadsheet on it. Plus I do things like that at 2 in the morning so who knows maybe my formulas are inaccurate.

Thank you fetzer for for sharing the name of someone who speaks about these factors. I do have time to do the research.
And I'm relatively sure that if I do sell my Canon gear, the prices for the Olympus and the Sony a7r III will most likely be lower later in 2020. At least that's my hope!
The numbers game strikes again. I think most of us here on UGG do not want or need 100mp images.

You know, I am an amateur photographer and I like being able to attach photos to e-mails but there ain't no way any e-mail program is going to allow a 100 mp photo to be attached. Also, the price is beyond anything I could ever afford even before I retired. I think they will have a limited customer base for such hardware. More power to them. It ain't gonna affect me one way or the other.
I have an EOS R camera. I love it. I think this new camera if the rumor is true will be a real winner.
