This may have been covered before, but... is there any benefit from having a full frame camera over a crop sensor camera?

A pound of luck isn't worth half as much as a full-frame camera.

The simple answer to your question is, yes but not always, since you didn't actually ask what the benefits are; and yes, it has been discussed here many times. Maybe not as many as, what lens should I take on vacation.
You will more than likely get better information on the difference between crop and full frame and the benefits of either of you use a good search portal like Bing or Google. Many of the responses you would get from social media would be more opinion based than technology based.

Yup, it's been covered before. At least once or twice!
The bottom line is that each format has advantages, but, what those advantages are depends in large part on what you shoot and your own personal preferences.
In reality I believe that the 3 biggest advantages for the amateur or hobbyist are price, size, and weight, with the crop sensor almost always having the advantage.

Sorry, CHG_CANON, I actually do enjoy reading some of your posts! BUT you lost me on this one.

It sounded like you were modifying a well-known quote or aphorism, so I googled, "a pound of luck", but all I found was President Garfield's quote as to a pound of pluck ...

So what were you attempting to communicate?

With the wrong camera, success is probably 99% luck. But with the right camera, it's 100% the photographer.

Not enough to justify the extra weight and expense of full frame cameras and lenses, IMHO. Even some pros are migrating to APS-C and micro 4/3 sensor cameras nowadays.

Like everything in life, it depends.

You mainly shoot Landscapes, portraits, street, and product photography, then a Full Frame camera is a must-have.

You shoot sports, action, macro, and wildlife then a crop sensor body and lens is a plus.
