Sunnely, my esteemed UHH colleague from WI, although a tribute to the unfortunate crew of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald is certainly a worthy activity, I do not understand the purpose of posting it on the Main Discussion Board of a blog devoted to photography.

Sometimes it is good to remember the dead even if it is unrelated to our board topic. Also, I am sire it took a lot of video editing to get this solemn tribute.

Superior is so different from the other Great Lakes, there is no comparison. At its deepest, the water temp pretty much remains in the mid 30 degree range. ...

"Superior," they said, "never gives up its dead when the gales of November come early". . .

. . .supposedly because of its consistently, cold mid 30s deep-level temps, bacteria are unable to act on the dead body for it to decompose and float to the surface.

Thanks for the info and watching, PGHphoto.

From a Great Lakes boat nerd, thanks for the posting!!

You're welcome, Shipwreck. Thanks for watching.

Would you be attending this year's commemoration by you, Whitefish Point?

I believe one will be held in Two Harbors, MN at Split Rock Lighthouse where Arthur M. Anderson started its voyage and kept track of the Edmund Fitzgerald until that she plunged to the bottom.

Thanks, thephotoman.

In addition to the time and effort researching and gathering info, it was almost a never-ending editing. In fact, I took down the original video I posted about a couple weeks ago because I had the wrong photo of the captain of the Edmund Fitzgerald posted. I hope the contents of the current video are more accurate and well-referenced. I even visited the place (Superior, WI) where Edmund Fitzgerald was loaded with iron ore pellets and Two Harbors, MN where Arthur M. Anderson sailed off following the Big Fitz. Attached is the picture of the Split Rock Lighthouse I took in Two Harbors, MN, overlooking Lake Superior. Didn't get chance to take picture of the Superior, WI as it was raining. However, we enjoyed a really great prime rib at a local restaurant there called, Eddie's Supper Club.

Thanks for watching.

Nice but, the info on the crewmen, and on the ship weren't on screen long enough to read them completely. They also appeared all over the screen so we don't know where to look for the next one. Still a nice tribute, but could be better.

Thanks for pointing it out. Will look into that such as shortening/deleting some of the captions and/or deleting one or two slides to allow more time to peruse the captions but keeping in synch with the duration of the song. (I can't lengthen the song.) Will also look at rearranging placement of the captions. Will do next revision/update in time for 45th anniversary, 2020.

Thanks for your input. Also, thanks for watching.

yes I have had a lot of likes on the video, when I wanted to read more of the info you put on each slide, I just paused it, worked great doing that!

I'd do the same thing (pause it) as you suggested.

I intended the video to have some historical and chronological perspective of the event. One of the problems I encountered during the editing of the video was the number of significant events that occurred especially the last 12-24 hours before Edmund Fitzgerald's sinking. I was hoping to give the audience a "minute-by-minute" account of the events leading to the tragedy. Since the premise of the show is a tribute to the crew, I had to spend some time and slides about them. Unfortunately, doing so required more time than the duration of the song would allow.

I will work on this issue for the next year's anniversary (45th).

Glad you liked it and accompanying historical info.

Again, thanks for watching.
