Steam Tractor Emerging

I went for a gritty treatment of this old steam tractor from the Miracle of America Museum in Polson, Montana. Just wanted to give it a bit of an ominous and art deco "emerging from the background" kind of attitude. Hopefully it worked!

I think the effect might work better if you darkened the wall behind and to the left of the traction engine. It might even be worth trying an extreme version where the background is close to being blacked out.

Both good thoughts. I will give them a toss and see if I like it. Thanks very much for posting.

Darkening as RG has suggested will transform the image - perhaps add a bit of contrast to the engine as well. Be good to see your result here.

Well, I have to say this looks quite a bit more sinister and imposing by darkening the background - and I really like the result! I may have been a bit heavy-handed here in order to get the effect I was looking for, but this image is much closer to what I originally envisioned than my original post - thanks for your suggestions, folks!!

I agree, the darker really pops out the engine. Good job!
