Self Portrait?

The assignment for November's meeting of my camera club is to make (stage) a self portrait in which you are not recognizable but which tells something about you. I made this photo last night from near the restaurant where I was having dinner using my tripod and a 10 second shutter delay. Is it a valid entrant? Is it "portraity" enough? Does it say anything about me? Hints for improvement?

I think it works. Great job. Side profile and only clue they have is you wear glasses.

It's visually engaging but a bit weak on the story-telling front. Do you have an interest in boats? It's not clear.

Thanks RG! I was a bit concerned about it's story telling. Yes, I am a life long sailor now turning to photography (Primarily landscape & small wildlife) due to increasing decrepitude (Knees & back) and lack of balance on a moving heaving side deck but that's not evident in the photo. Is this a photo about which, with no other input, you can make up your own story in your mind?

Evening is always an evocative time of day and the docks tell their own story. Your physical attitude suggests that you're looking intently at something just out of sight in the shadows and that aspect of the storytelling tends to prevail and leaves the viewer wondering what's grabbing your attention. But it remains an unanswered question, and thereby hangs the tale (as they say). Now if you were taking a photo of that scene, the viewer wouldn't be in any doubt about the intended statement.

Thanks R.G. Your response got me to thinking so I staged myself in my living room as though I was taking photos. It's a less striking photo but probably closer to matching the assignment parameters.

A combination of the two would be perfect, but this one is more of a portrait that says something about you. It just lacks the visual impact of the sunset. I suspect the winner of the assignment will be someone who has managed to combine statement and visual interest.
