Outstanding. Rainy days indeed keep the highlights from blowing out.

Fantastic. That is a wonderful shot. Either snowy by itself would have been impressive, but the combination makes for a powerful image.

thank you Curmudgeon, kpmac, and MrBumps2U. Full disclosure, it is the same bird shot twice and brought back into a single composite. The first original shot was a sad composition with snowy at top right, so the canvas got extended and filled and then I figured adding the second cut from a split second later might be cool to try.

Stunning artwork, Piet. It survives pixel peeping - which I wouldn't have done had I not read that this is a composite

thanks Linda - the camera right wing was bugging me and I worked on it a little. But thanks, I tried to be careful with this one, I liked the analogous colors a lot.

I do also. The colors are a huge part of this image's appeal and success IMO.

yep, and because of the diffused light, good contrast and tone on the white birds and wet branches. I was so lucky with the light that I did very little contrast adjustment, but for me, when I saw the color scheme I knew I had to give it a shot! The colors were the reason I chose to work on the image.

The colors were reason enough Piet, this is a beautiful result! I strongly agree about the advantages of defused light and exposing correctly for white birds. Nice work here!

thanks Phil, oh I hate the ones I lost because the whites get blown out so easy..
