Welcome aboard. Look forward to seeing your images.
I too have a Canon 6D, and several other Canon and Nikon DSLR'S. Don't have 24-70 f/2.8 but I do have a 28-70 f/2.8. I do have a 70-200 f/2.8 and a whole bunch of other lenses including an EF 85 f/1.2L. Great portrait lens. My favorite utility lens is my EF 28-300L and my favorite telephoto is my EF 100-400L II with EF 1.4X extender.
Welcome to the UHH.

So, what's your take on the 85 vs.the 50?

I'm guessing you are asking me. If you use Quote Reply we will know who you are addressing.
I rarely use either of my 50mm lenses. I've got a nifty fifty (f/1.8) in my collection and an f/1.4. For portraiture I generally stick to my EF 85 f/1.2L. I've had that lens for a very long time and I can't remember it ever letting me down. If ever there was a lens specifically designed for portraits, that's the one to have.

Hi bobitt12, welcome to UHH. It is good you ask opinions, but in this case, I believe you must rely on only one thing...If purchasing this lens is going to be an asset in your bag, and you will use it to its fullest, then by all means procure it. But, on the other hand, you will be using it sporadically, then I would think twice if I really wanted to spend the money on it.
Other than that, again welcome, post some of your images, make some friends here, but above all, have fun.
