Hey y'all! New member here and I thought I'd introduce myself. Allan Ritter from Gulfport MS and I am a beginner photographer that got into it by shooting my kids sports. Self taught and am always on the look out for new tips. Currently I have been covering high school football and then started branching out into Volleyball, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, track and field and softball. I really would like to learn more about portrait photography and a lot more about post processing! Thanks and hope to make some new contacts! - Allan Ritter
Welcome to UHH. Your pics look fine.
Thanks, Mike. A lot of issues I run into are white balancing on some of these fields and gyms...I seem to capture that 60 hertz rate cycle that run through these old stadiums an awful lot. So this puts an emphasis on correcting in post. I also just got asked to take senior portraits of the football players and I see a lot of examples out there that I would like to emulate with my photos...

Allan Welcome aboard. You do a great job in sports photography. You have a natural eye to capture the moment. Don't hesitate and do the senior portraits of the football players. Use a neutral backdrop
Thanks! I've read that understanding the sport being played helps immensely in setting up the shots you want. Soccer is the hardest to me....that ball goes back and forth way too much!😂

Yes, there are a lot of challenges, and I won't be of any help on those, but there are folks here who know what they are dping for that type of photography.
By the way, if you click "quote reply" below the post to which you are responding that makes it easier to know to whom you are responding.
I am guessing that you are under age 70, which is good. We need more young people here. Don't let the grouchy old farts run you off!
