I get annoyed when folks respond in that manner with nothing to contribute. Like on Amazon when a reviewer posts, "I can't review cause I never read the book" . G-r-rr

Yes, your example perp does that often. Some of us are trying to be funny at times and others find it annoying. Different strokes for different folks (to quote Sly Stone). And many people are just being sarcastic or rude. It takes all kinds.

I have used Canon for 40+ years. My current camera is the EOS 1DS Mark III. I bought this new and love the camera. I shoot mostly landscapes. My photography today is changing and I need more dynamic range. The Canons maximum ISO is 3200 and there is a lot of noise to deal with. The Sony I have selected is the new Alpha 7R IV. I purchased two lenses, Both G master lenses. The Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS and the Sony SEL24-70mm GM. I expect the camera around Oct 15. Can someone tell me; am I going to be happy with the Sony? This has left a big hole in the coffers, so to those that use the earlier models of the Alpha 7R series, is there something you couldn't live without for your Sony camera?
PS... I am also looking at the Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM Wide-angle Zoom. Is this a good choice or is there something else I overlooked.
I respect everyone's opinion here. Canon users, please don't lambast me and tell me I have made a big mistake. The deed is done, I'm switching to Sony.

Great choice in my opinion! You're going to love Sony! I've had several Canon's over the years....back to the film days. Also had a Nikon. Since I've retired 4 yrs ago, I've been able to spend more time taking photos and I'm obsessed! I switched to Sony a7ii over 3 yrs ago and really liked it. I 'upgraded' to the Sony a7Riii this past Feb. and so happy I did. It was a stretch for me $$ wise, but really love this camera! The battery life is really very good in my a7riii, big battery life improvement over my a7ii. Wish I hadn't bought the 'kit lens' originally with my a7ii, but have since bought the 24-70 GM which is on my camera most of the time. Also have the 50mm 1.4, the 90mm 2.8 macro.

I found it took awhile for me to get used to the Sony menu system....not as intuitive as other brands, but you'll get used to it.

Anyway, bottom line....I think you will love your new Sony and will have no regrets!! ENJOY!
