I have had a purchase order in at B&H since June, 2019, for the new Nikon 500mm, PF 5.6, lens, but still have not received it. I saw Steve Perry's video on some ideas at where to look for the lens but that proved fruitless. I'm now asking if anyone else have had some luck getting the lens, or have an idea or suggestion where someone might have the lens. Lucky, Steve Perry has two 500mm lenses.

Have a friend who has been trying to buy that lens for months, last I heard he never got his either, I don't know if it was B&H or Adorama but the vendor sent him an email asking to confirm shipment of the back order and I think that he did not get to it in time.

Seems to be a hard lens to get your hands on, glad I shoot Canon.

First thanks for the quick replies. Does anyone have a local camera shop that might have the lens that will ship out of state? I tried Houston Camera Exchange, Sammy's, Adorama, Hunts, etc. I just talked with B&H customer service. According to their representative, B&H has NOT filled their orders for this lens from 2018. Yikees!! I will definitely have to look at other opportunities.

I originally ordered 6 of these over a year ago. I got one immediately, one 3 months later, one in February and one in June this year. Still no word from Nikon when I might see the last two.
Very limited production with VERY high demand. Its a fantastic lens too!

I've had one on order from B&H since May 8, 2019. Checking local and maybe not so local camera shops may be worth a try. In August I missed getting one from a shop located 40 minutes from my home by one day. That's right! One day! Their web page said they had one on hand and I ordered it immediately. This was after business hours. I got a call from the shop at 9:30 am the next morning and the guy apologized and informed me that they had sold it earlier in the day that I tried to buy it on line. He called the Nikon rep and was told they would get one to his shop by the end of the month. Well guess what, lens hasn't shown up yet. I have a suspicion that pro's with a reputation and others (like internet influencers) that are associated with Nikon get preferential treatment. It's just the way of the world. The good news is that most amateurs like myself don't absolutely have to have one to survive.

Apparently, demand has exceeded expectation by a long way and Nikon admitted it is only producing 1000 500mm f5.6 PD EF VR lenses per month worldwide.

I just got mine a month ago waited about 5 months for it to get in. I think my local camera store got 3 maybe. You might check with them. Campus Camera in Kent Ohio. They might be gone by now. The owner told me he was having a hard time getting them as well.

See if you can order the lens from Nikon direct. If not I would reach out to Joe McNally.
