The market for DSLRs, mirrorless, and 'cameras' will continue to shrink......as the phone cameras become more and more sophisticated.
Many of us will not be part of that diminishing market; but new users will go with the path of least resistance and....convenience.

It's a hugely amusing question.
In the past, many photojournalists knew
verrry little about gear and photography,
but what little they knew, they knew well.
Acoarst it was verrry targeted knowledge
so their specific needs were well met. An
expert is typically someone who knows a
whole lot about a very little ;-)

Actually, there used to be formidable photojournalists, but that was then. (Your "r" key needs cleaning.)

The vast majority of pictures and film clips on the broadcast news every night are taken by passer-by phone cameras, body cams, security cams or dashboard cams. Dedicated photo journalists are nearly a thing of the past except maybe for print newspapers, but I can't remember the last time I read a print newspaper.
