looks like it's on sale for just about half price $329; guess that means there is probably a new lens coming out. I've read the views; maybe for the purist it would not be the lens to buy, but, for me, the reviews are 4 stars or more. Anyone have one with some practical experience using it ?

I have the variable aperture model. Damn fine lens terrific IQ:Cost ratio. Used it on my Nikons for years. Now shoot Fuji but I still have the lens along with a D300. Little or no cash value so I keep them.

I also have the variable aperture variant - right now I have no plans to get the f/3.5 variant, because the one I already have is getting the job done for me. One thing I really value is its low amount of distortion.

For anyone still using SLRs it's a great deal
... if they're an APS-C format SLR user.

The replacement will prolly include mounts
for post-SLR camera tech, such as the E, Z,
and R mounts from Sony, Nikon, and Canon.
Mebbe it will even include Canon M-mount ?

I have the constant aperture model for canon EF mount, and love it. The image quality is excellent, and the color and contrast really nice as well. For $329, you can't go wrong. I also got mine on sale a couple of years ago(not at $329), and thought it would be a nice, occasional use lens-I use the thing more that I ever thought I would.

I have the Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 for my Nikon. Bought it several years ago for roughly double today's cost. No regrets. The lens is quite good, solid build with little distortion and great color. I find that I don't use it all that often, but I like having the capability to get to 10mm when I need it.

There was a discussion about this lens a few weeks ago. I have this lens in the 3.5 aperture version and used it weekly with an cropped frame Sony A77m2. I use it with a Sony mirrorless with Sony adapter as a full frame equivalent at 18 mpx. it now operates at 10mm instead of 15mm at the widest aperture. Excellent color balance after PP from raw and SHARP. great value.Of course if the grass is always greener...

the reviews on line are inconsistent; they generally agree with the UHH responses that it is a good lenses; one reviewer talked about vignetting a little, another said there was a little vignetting that could be corrected and really wasn't an issue, another said lenses was sharper stopped down a couple of stops, etc; so, the comments varied widely

Yes, I have one. I like it very much. I don't use it all the time - just when I know wide angle is the way to go. I get beautiful, sharp shots with it.

WhenI was in the market for a UWA zoom, I looked at the Sigma 10-20 and the Tokina 11-16. I eventually chose the Tokina based on the user reviews of both lenses on the Dyxum.com website. Not having used the Sigma, I cannot say if I made the right choice but I have nothing negative that I can say about the Tokina.

NOTE: At the UWA range, 11-16 is a big difference in visual effect. My most used lens Sigma 17-70 starts at 17 mm so I had no need of the larger (Longer) zoom ratio of the Sigma UWA zoom. With three lenses (11-16, 17-70, 70-400) I have an uninterrupted zoom range from 11-400 mm

Excellent center sharpness, but corner sharpness leaves quite a lot be be desired.

That is the traditional way to design a lens.

I have it with the 3.5 constant I have had it close to a year. I too got it on sale at a big discount. No regrets. I would tell you, go for it. I personally think it is a very fine camera.
