Of course the authors couldn't name all the trips but they missed one they shouldn't have. The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Rail Road has been rated the numbers one Tourist railroad in America for several years running in a poll by USA Today. Couple that with the spectacular fall colors of the high Rocky Mountains in New Mexico and Colorado and it's hard to understand how it was left out. (the Durango and Silverton ain't too shabby either)

Since we're talking North America, another spectacular fall color train is the Agawa Canyon Tour that goes north out of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. Very rugged and beautiful scenery. Took it many years ago and the fall color was spectacular. Of course with all fall color trips, timing is everything.
