This is a Canadian Pacific town. They have a small switching yard here where they gather freight cars from several locations ans put them into trains. There is also an ethanol plant west of town by 5 miles. That adds to the busyness of the yard.
Shots taken in and around Waseca this week. The BNSF is heading a mixed consist westbound. First shots at a rural crossing and the second in Janesville.
The CP is one of two local road switchers, returning with freight cars from the east.
The last two pictures are 2 miles west of town on the CP right of way. I don't know what the significance is but neither have I ever seen another like it. There is a siding here with a drive way about 100 yards to the west where the Farm Service fuel truck stops to fuel the switchers.

Thanks Pat and Richard. Just everyday railroading in a small town.
The M&StL used to have a north/south line through here, there is a relic from those days in Janesville for a later post.
Very nice shots and history of your area!
Nice set & info on the history.
Thanks for sharing

Nice series. Can't believe someone has parked a rv trailer next to tracks. I love trains, but.... Guess not many daily trains.
