Which Canon model is in this picture?

I really like the controls, viewfinder, & size of the Canon in THIS PICTURE. Can anyone identify the model so I can look into buying one like it?

It is indistinguishable from my EOS 5D Mark II.

I can't say enough about this camera. It has been very good and it is also economical, since Canon has come out with new versions. I picked up another body not long ago, refurbished, at an excellent price.

It is the original Canon 7D which was a crop sensor camera introduced in 2009 and discontinued in 2014. In 2014 it was replaced by the similar looking 7D Mark II which is still in production.

It's the original 7D. The 5D series doesn't have a pop up flash.

The second picture in that series (assuming they used the same body) appears to be a Tamron 10-24 3.5-4.5 SP which is a EF-S lens. Maybe a 7D?

This is what I think too. I can see that it has a pop up flash and those controls look the same as I remember my 7D having.

Yep, a 7D - had one - the pop up flash is the give away. A good solid camera, but a bit noisy above ISO 1600-3200.

Thanks to all. I thought it was a fixed lens camera with a viewfinder. That's what I'm considering for my next camera. I do not want another dSLR right now (I just bought 1 a few weeks ago). The controls sure are nicely laid out on that Canon, though. (sigh)

I agree.... that's an original 7D.

I'd recommend you consider the 7D Mark II instead. It's very similar... but better in a number of ways.

7DII has...
- Dual memory card slots (1 CF, 1 SD.... 7D only has one: CF).
- More direct access to some controls (added ring around joystick to chg. focus pattern)
- Locking button on the mode dial (optionally can have one installed on 7D... $100).
- 20MP (versus 18MP)
- 10 frames per second (consistently.... versus 8 fps that often slows down).
- 65 point AF system (versus 19 point).
- Seven AF patterns: Single Point, Precision Single Point, 4-point Expansion, 8-point Expansion, Small Zone, Large Zone, All Points/Auto. (versus five patterns in 7D: doesn't have 8-point Expansion or Large Zone).
- f/8 capable (center point only... orig. 7D is f/5.6 limited. The 7DII works with more lens/teleconverter combos... for example I've used EF 100-400mm II f/4.5-5.6 lens with EF 1.4X II, w/7DII. That combo won't focus on original 7D.)
- Dual Pixel AF in Live View/video modes (much faster than contrast detection AF on orig. 7D).
- Higher usable ISO (I've used as high as ISO 12800 and 16000 w/7DII... Limited to ISO 3200 and 6400 on 7D).
- According to DXO, 7DII has slightly more dynamic range and a little more color depth. (BTW.... 80D is even better, plus it's 24MP.)
- Battery grip for 7DII has secondary joystick for AF point selection (grip for 7D doesn't... need a really long thumb to change AF point when holding vertically).
- 7DII is five years newer (2014). Original 7D is now a ten year old model (not sure if Canon still services them).
- 7DII is rated to be good for 200,000 shutter actuations. Orig. 7D was rated to give 150K clicks.

I've used both cameras a lot. I shot with a pair of 7D for over five years. Took about a quarter million images with them. Finally upgraded to a pair of 7DII a couple years ago... They're every bit as good and even better! I kept the orig. 7D as backups... but have never had reason to use them.

Supposedly the recently announced 90D will replace both 80D and 7D Mark II. IMO, in many respects it falls short of being a replacement for the 7DII. It doesn't have as good and versatile an AF system. Doesn't have dual memory card slots. Has a slightly lower magnification viewfinder. Uses plastic where the 7DII uses magnesium body panels.

So, it should be one of these models.

Actually, as we determined earlier on in this thread it is the original Canon 7D from 2009 to 2014, which is not on that list.

I've found model numbers compatible with an accessory are seldom a complete list.
