FYI:
If you really expect anyone to be able to read the service receipt... you need to store original so the full size image can be seen.

They sent it to nikon as an authorized dealer, that's where I bought the camera and that's where I brought it back to. They're 20 minutes away from me.

I have the same problem on my D800. Was the total price $357.00? I had taken it to a repair shop close by and the man there said Nikon would just rip it off camera. Then they would see what was broken and fix. Sounded really strange to me. Thanks

That was the total but I didn't have them repair the lens since it was a nikon 50 1.8 and I could almost buy a used one for what they were going to charge. BTW - the lens seems to work fine. It did take almost 6 weeks from the time the store sent it to them till the time I got it back.
