Keep your camera on Auto-Everything as its standard stand-by configuration so you can get the grab shot.

Leave it that way, unless you have a good reason to change something.

My camera doesn't have full auto exposure, only M, A, S, P.
I use a manual focus lens.

Use P and pre-focus your lens at its hyperfocal distance.

I wasn't asking for a solution, only pointing out that your statement has limited applicability.

That is a point. What model is that?

That is what I do often and tweak on A or M mode to see if I can beat but I often do not to tell the truth. Hahaha Shang

That would be a horrible technique for a Macro or Portrait or virtually anything but a well stopped down Landscape as it is a landscape technique.

I usually shoot in Program mode and sometimes Apature mode. Almost never in Auto mode. However my D7100 is always in Auto-ISO and Auto-White Balance. Those two "autos" seem to be foolproof,... at least for me. Then I have Lightroom.

This may not be God-sent! but it works for me. And I think my product is rather good.

I usually have my Pentax KP set at ‘TAv’ mode - which is the equivalent of ‘M’ mode plus auto ISO. That way I can control motion blur and DOF while still limiting ISO to values that have proven to be acceptable to me.

Ah, yes. Pro models often don't have those Full Auto or Green Modes. I know what you mean. My Pentax cameras have a bunch of modes: M, Tv, Av, TAv, Sv, P, and some of them have a Full Auto Green mode. But I pretty much only use M, Av, Tv. Also I mainly have vintage Manual Focus lenses as well. Note Tv=Shutter Priority in Pentaxese and Canonese.

I always seem to shoot in “M” mode including white balance manual white balance. and I don’t pre set anything! I set the aperture for the type of capture I want and the only automatic option I use is back button focus. that’s the way I have always shot since my Minolta 35mm SLR which did not have auto. Except you had to manually focus.🤓
