Thanks for all the votes in our last contest.
I didn't have a good picture to work on but I saw one posted by MattPhox that could be challenging. I contacted him and he said he would be interested in seeing what we could do with his picture. I want to thank Mathias again for donating his picture.👏

Feel free to download this photo and edit it on your computer. Black and white conversions, color shifts, adjustments, composites are all acceptable. Whatever you think enhances the photo. Then post your edit in this thread. Edits will be accepted until Thursday at 9pm. At that time we will start the voting. Thank you for your continued support of this section.

If you want to use the raw .nef file you can get it here:

I like the composition of this image. IMHO it only needed a little light.

Mostly I just worked with what was in the file though a bit of toning was added. I had thought about cropping but the more I studied the image the more I appreciated the original framing. (Oh, the bridge was leveled)

This is mine. I loved the dappled light and the fact that the shadows were so deep. I didn't like the line of wall at the bottom, so I had the heal tool get rid of it in PS. Not a perfect job, but it looked better. I still don't like the sky, but I don't know how to make it better.

I like the feel of this image, a hidden away little waterwheel. Just lightened, removed the strong green color cast and subdued the mottled light. I didn't feel the overexposed sky nor the fence rail along the bottom added to the composition so I cropped slightly. I originally thought this was a ruin but it appears to be a rebuild, although unfinished.

Made some changes in color temperature, lightened shadows, toned down greens, replaced sky, cropped, sharpened, and added a little red haired friend who's eagerly waiting for you to visit.

Details look best in download view.
