Hi, I started off with a Minolta 102 because of the ability to do double expostures;then went to Canon Elam EOS for the Auto exposture, great variety of lenses &the body felt good in my hands. The digital was a XT with 2 lense kit ; however the body felt small & flimsty and I purchase a used 40D body. My question, will the lenses from XT & Elam fit onto 40D and work in auto. THANKS!

Since I use Nikon, I don't have an answer to your question. I am sure there a many here that can and will.

Welcome to UHH.

I believe they will. If it says EF or EF-S on the lenses they should work.

Yes they will. I have some EF lens (EF 24mm f/2.8, EF 50 f1.8, EF 35-105mm f3.5-4.5, EF 70-210mm f/4, from the film days. (EOS 650) and they work fine on my EOS 60D. I have since upgraded to the "L" versions and added some new ones. IS lens are now my preferred type as I'm not as steady as my film days. Don't use the old lens as much now but they still do the trick. :-D

Thanks, which one would you preferred EF 28-80 IU USM 3.5-5.6 OR EF-S 18-55 3.5-5.6 IS for a walk around lense?

The 28-80 will get you more long range and seems to be a quality lens, the 18-55 IS is also well suited for close quarters and will give you sharper pics in lower light due to less shake of the IS. I guest it depends on the type of photos you take, I would lean toward IS. The wide angle of 18mm is great for landscape and cityscape. Try both, what counts is what feels good to you.
After a while you'll know which one suits your style. Use a lens hood if you have one to prevent flare.

Thanks, its been a while before I got back into photography & THE 40d seems similar to the Elam II E ; by reading this forum it jogged my memory.

The local established camera store is going out of business & selling Canon prime 85 f1.8 USM lense for $ 375.00 is this a good price ? It would be used on a 40D
