These were taken during the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous last January, which is an annual event. It's a gathering of folks who live in their RV's the year around as a nomadic lifestyle for the most part, although there are many who only live in their RV's part of the year attending as well.

Yep, Quartzite is a real people zoo in the winter and about 500 people in residence in the summer. Crazy times are had by all from November to February.

Between there and Yuma are what seems like nothing but trailers full of old farts all over the desert crapping it up and destroying the fragile environment.

Beautiful shots though.

Those old farts are camping/living on BLM land and complying with Federal Regulations. There are companies who make a living going from site to site pumping out holding tanks and filling fresh water tanks all winter long. The BLM is tasked with monitoring all the campers and are authorized to fine and arrest anyone not following the regulations. Living that kind of lifestyle demands conservation, reuse and careful use of resources as a part of that lifestyle. You should take a closer look before making such a blatantly ignorant statement.

Just being on the fragile soil of the desert destroys it for centuries.
Of course idiots in their nasty narcissistic campers parking on the fragile soils don't give a damn.
They have no clue about the desert environment and holding tanks have nothing to do with it. Nasty tires driving on the ground is the destruction.
In all the years I lived in AZ (Native) I NEVER went actually off road in the desert with my Jeep but stayed on forest roads etc. as I was smart enough to know about the fragility of the desert and knew that preservation was critical.

Did you attend the RTR? I met a lot of very nice people, and became friends with a few.

Well good for you. You must be mister perfect. I'm sure everyone was really glad to read your post. I guess no one is as smart as you. You must be related to Trump, the all wise one. May you live long in interesting times.

Hi, Cathy. No we don't stay at Quartzite. We winter at the Yuma Proving Grounds on the Army base frequently and visit Quartzite several times during the winter. We have friends that spend some time there.
That's one thing we have come to expect, meeting nice, friendly people.
How long have you been full-timing?
Here's a photo outside our door about 3am at the Proving Grounds last winter.

Quartzite is also known for its rock and mineral show in January.
