LenzBuddy makes rear lens caps with the focal length printed on them. You can use multiple colors and/or icons if you want to go whole hog (pun intended).
For years I've used the peel/stick mailing address labels that come in
the mail from various advertisers trying to get my money: NRA,
Veterans Administration, Audubon Society, etc. They don't mar the
finish, are easy to replace, and can be covered with transparent tape
for more durability.

How many lenses do you have in individual cases? And are the cases and their sizes so similar that you need labels to tell them apart?
