for those who know me from my recent Macro posts, also know that I recently had a lumbar fusion.
Things started going south last weekend when I thought my 2 week headache was fading.
Well it wasn't lol.
At this point I am leaking spinal fluid under the skin in my lower back.
The Dr examined and tested a fluid sample from under the skin and found it to be
almost exclusively spinal fluid.
The leak is to large for a blood patch.
So Monday the surgeon is going to remove the hardware and bone grafts in order to find the leak
and repair it.
They will be introducing fluids to keep my brain afloat during the process.
They will then attempt to install the rods and screws again if they are successful.
I can't begin to tell you all how much I am NOT looking forward to this.
I am hoping this is an easy fix, but the surgeon is not hopeful lol.
He is probably the best in the area, has 32 years experience at trauma crash surgeries.
So I do believe I am in the best hands possible.
Needless to say, photographing will be another ways off for me. Perhaps I will catch some
of the nesting season at the Rookery.

Anyone here had a nasty Dura leak ? how did it go ?
Thanks

Danniel

Haven't had a dura leak but had lower back surgery to repair a burst disc leaking into the spinal column. Almost lost the ability to walk. I know a little of what you will be going through with the surgery. I'll throw in a few prayers for a speedy recovery. I'll also add to remember to keep up with the rehab, those people are a big help. God Bless

Dear Danniel,
Who is your neurosurgeon? I have a super neurosurgeon who trained under the best in Washington DC. His name is James Schumacher, 941.955.1920. He might be useful at least for a second opinion. Best of luck to you!
