Crop in from both sides to simplify the image and make the subject bang out. Lift the midtones. The image has basic eye appeal because of the subject's natural pattern and coloration. The subject compels the eye. Printed and framed, this image could brighten or enliven a nook or even wall space.

I disagree. The image did not need cropping. I liked it better before the crop.

...I need to learn to turn my camera vertically during composition...at least take one shot vertically each time...
