Coral Cove Before the Storm

Went out to Coral Cove this morning and found the ocean thrashing and violent. We have a potential tropical wave coming in and bringing lots of rain with it. This was taken during the blue hour before dawn broke, with a 4 minute exposure that really brought out the colors that the naked eye could not see.

Thanks for looking.

If that's what you wanted to emphasise then you've succeeded admirably. As an ordinary shot, however, I'd say it looks a bit too saturated to my eye. But I know that your skills are more than adequate to give it the look that you want, so I'll go with the "intentional" verdict (and beautiful too).

Rich and dramatic! Captures the feel of early morning with a brooding storm.

A really interesting rendition, I think you captured exactly what you set out do. In your introduction you mentioned a "thrashing and violent" sea. Do you have a shot of that as a counterpoint to the soft, mellow mood of the timed exposure?

This was taken in near darkness. I needed a 4 minute exposure and a wide aperture to get something to come out. The long exposure absorbed the colors that the naked eye could not see so i get the deep blues. I just decided to go with those colors. They are a bit much for what I usually show.

Thanks so much for your thoughts---I sincerely appreciate them.

Consider me "hunkered". We are getting really ugly skies and so far only moderate rain. Time will tell.
