Notice his license plate was left at the scene of the accident. Of course, he probably did not know that.

I'd guess that Sgt. is the highest rank he's ever going to achieve. Along with a big black mark on his record.

If he is convicted of any felony he will be discharged from his department and won't be able to work for ANY police agency after that. Although, he may retire with his pension before he is convicted if he qualifies.

To qualify for the Darwins you do not have to die(it helps) but you MUST remove yourself from the gene pool.
So, it the Sargent dead or neutered?

I’ve always felt that if one was neutered they were dead. 😛

A number of years ago, I turned my right turn signal on and was slowing the car to make the turn and got rear-ended. I got our of the car and when the driver that hit me jumped out of his vehicle, I noted he was in full police uniform. He looked at the damage - which was more to his unmarked police car, than mine - and exclaimed, "G__-damn it! Third time!!!"

As a retired state trooper, guys like this make me angry. He violated the very laws he is charged to enforced, and in an egregious way. I suspect that not only will he lose his job, he’ll likely lose his pension and he’ll get to spend time in prison. Hopefully. Yup, he’d be a good candidate for a Darwin Award.

Hopefully if tried and found guilty he might be nominated for inmate of the month at the State's chosen correctional facility.

I am not feeling bad for this man's choices but the fact his family has to live with it and probably suffer financially from the loss of his job is frustrating just read about it. I hope his wife and family persevere.
I cannot imagine why he was suspended instead of being fired on the spot. Maybe it's department protocol.

Yes, like that loser who cowered behind a car while kids were being slaughtered inside the school he was sworn to protect.

He was most likely suspended so he can have his rightful day in court. At least most businesses as well as police departments these days require an investigation into wrong doing so that the subject does not come back later on and file a law suit. One would think this is a slam dunk case and the sergeant should be terminated immediately. Unfortunately that is not the case in present day America where the least little matter must be adjudicated properly to show no bias against the person whatsoever. At least he will be off the streets and not be driving a patrol vehicle while he is suspended.

There is no excuse to be driving while intoxicated the sergeant should be fired immediately

Dennis2416 has it right. It is the policy of at least most departments to place an officer accused of wrongdoing on admin leave while the investigation is ongoing. Whether it is with or without pay is up to the individual department. There have been too many cases where an officer was fired on the spot, only to have to be reinstated with back pay, benefits and resuming his or her place on the seniority list. As in most cases, termination of employment won’t occur unless or until that officer is found guilty of the crime they were accused of. As much as we’d all like to see instant firing, it just can’t be, in the interest of fairness, just in case the accusations are unfounded. While they don’t appear to be unfounded in this case, the guy is entitled to his day in court. So we let the process proceed.

He may go to prison ... then find Jesus. No, wait ... maybe he will have Jesus (fill in Latino name here) as his new cell mate. Yeah ... let's go with THAT!
