I'm stumped.. You mentioned at the bottom of the post that the first 3 checks were OK then you got an error message. No sure what you mean by First 3 Checks?? You can only assign One fine tune adjustment per lens. Am I missing something. I found this on the net, Steve's own YouTube video on the auto fine tune. Maybe this will help..

According to Steve Perry you should take twelve checks and write them down. Discard the highest and the lowest number of the twelve, add up the rest and divide by 10. Enter this number in the camera menu and your keeper rate will rise significantly. According to Steve, the actual focusing mechanism has small inconsistencies so it is best to take an average.

OK... Thinking outside the box, if your camera is allowing Three shots everytime you try then that's where to look. Our cameras are little computers and normally do what we tell them. Three shots makes me think of Bracketing or HDR shots. Any Chance you have accidentally set the camera up to bracket with Three shots or do a Three shot HDR. It's got to be something simple, But Difficult to Track Down.........

No, the three readings did not appear at the same tieme. The three readings I got were each set up individually, on after the other over a period of about 15 minutes.

I read something recently on how to save all your settings in the menu onto the memory card. If I can find it I am going to do that then do a two button reset as someone suggested, then reinstall the menu settings.

Thank you everybody for your help. If this doesn't work I am going to do my fine tuning the old way.
