From the "Hobo Railroad" in Lincoln, NH

My wife and I took a trip to Lincoln, NH, this past week and spied a old train sitting in a RR yard in Lincoln. I asked about it and found it is called the "Yankee Express" from the Maine RR. It is going to be renovated by the State of New Hampshire. It has been in the yard for 15 years awaiting funding for the remounting on the trucks, diesel engine, and finishing of the cars. Seems NH has to come up with $15 million to complete the job.

Nice capture Bill ... makes me want to go over & capture it. I've been waiting to go see the Conway RR steam engine # 7470, which I believe is now back out on the tracks after a 3 - 4 year inspection & rebuild. Thanks for sharing your shots.

This train set is a 'sister' to the Burlington's "Pioneer Zephyr", which is usually given credit for introducing the idea of light-weight diesel-powered passenger service and is now parked in Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry parking garage.

Look at photos #3 and #4 in my set

Minor corrections: it was known as the "Flying Yankee" and was operated by the Boston & Maine Railroad.
